15 Years

15th Rezday

I have been a resident of Second Life for 15 years as of October 23, 2018. Pretty much rezzed in world every day of those 15 years. Of course, there are days when I haven’t. We all get burned out. But I have never been away for too long. Friendships have come and faded. Never gone.

My Second Life career started right away making jewelry. Caroline’s Jewelry closed early 2014, I believe. Fortunately, a few designers then let me have fun and blog for them. My true love of late has been the incredible food creations. I tend to shop Dust Bunny and Apple Fall when looking for food. Not too real, but not fake looking edibles. I like pairing them up with a recipe to try. So this is what I enjoy to do for now.

I am wearing Truth Hair – Oksana, my outfit is Zenith at Collabor88, Cae – Trinket Necklace, and the pose is An Lar Poses – Queenie. Most of the food on the table is Apple Fall – Autumn Treats. I tried to include my favorite designers in the picture, but I LOVE so many!! So you will find Dust Bunny, What Next, Tres Blah, and Half-Deer.

Onto dessert!! This cake was made for Second Life’s 15th Birthday! The recipe that I have paired with this is Spiced Peaches and Cream Cake. After following the recipe you can decorate the cake with blueberries for added color.

My 14th Year Rezday in Second Life

14 Years and Still Kicking

14 years ago today my avatar, Caroline Apollo, rezzed in Linden Lab’s Second Life. My one regret is that I didn’t become a Lifetime Member when it was offered. I just didn’t see myself staying around for long. I came up with a list of the 14 things that I love about Second Life. I am sure that I am missing a few, but this is off the top of my head. This is in no particular order.

  1. Becoming a Truth and Glam Affair blogger. I have loved these brands for so long. And to be on the blog team was a huge thrill! I love all of the brands I blog!
  2. All of the crazy and fun times with friends being silly. The social bonds keep me coming back. I do miss the friends from my first years that quit logging in. But I have become closer with friends like Gogo, Betty, and Ane.
  3. Mesh. Wow did that change Second Life. We save on land impact and can rez more decor. The mesh clothes, hair, bodies, and heads have just had such an impact on Second Life.
  4. Bento. Hand gestures, hair designs, better facial expressions, individuality with our faces are possible with bento.
  5. Gacha. I LOVE playing gacha. (<3 DustBunny)
  6. Removal of taxes. Thank you, Linden Labs, for stopping the ridiculous taxing.
  7. Removal of teleport fee. Can you imagine paying to teleport?
  8. Windlight. Without it our pictures and our views would be flat.
  9. Owning my very own sim. I can remember the day I got it. And the friends I have made through it.
  10. Experience of being a creator. I started creating jewelry not long after joining Second Life. I stopped in early 2014. People still buy it on Marketplace. I’m not sure why though.
  11. Plurk. Even though some residents no longer login to Second Life they are still present on Plurk. I am also able to keep up with new releases and events. I don’t really read feeds. If it isn’t on Plurk or Flickr I will probably miss it.
  12. Freedom to do whatever. Build, take pictures, make friends, there is no goal.
  13. Animals like KittyCats. First, I love cats irl. Having animated cats in Second Life makes me happy!
  14. Creators. I love you guys. Thank you for making my home and myself so pretty.

Thirteen

Yesterday, October 23, 2016, was my thirteenth rez day. It is really hard to believe that Second Life has held my attention for so long. Not long after joining I started making jewelry to wear because I couldn’t afford to buy it. Someone suggested that I start a jewelry store. I did that for about 11 years, and have seen many changes in content creation. Designers constantly have to adapt their methods to the ever changing Second Life. Eventually, I lost my appeal for creating, got off my platform and went shopping. I found that I loved it! I mean, who doesn’t love to shop?! Second Life has come a long ways thanks to the creators. My avatar is beautiful and continues to become even more all of the time so thanks to you.

Twelve Years of My Second Life

Happy Rezday

October 23, 2003 I rezzed into Linden Lab’s Second Life. Honestly, I didn’t think that I would stay around for more than a couple of weeks. Here I am 12 years later, and I still log in almost every day. Second Life has changed quite a bit with vast improvements. My friends have changed. The ones I started with no longer log in. My avatar has most surely changed for the good.

For my rezday gift I purchased a mesh head. There are so many wonderfully done mesh heads that it took months to decide on one. I played around with LOGO, Catwa, and Lelutka. Even within a brand you have decisions to make. Which head, makeup, and expressions. Ultimately, I ended up deciding on Lelutka.

Rezday

Lara Hurley is not my usual go to brand for skins. I saw her ad in a Flickr Lelutka group and loved the look. After talking to my friend, Mouse Mimistrobell, I decided to go with the Lara Hurley brand. I mainly wore Glam Affair and Pink Fuel. I think this brand is a mix of both. The makeup is smooth and soft looking.

I picked up this fun Zenith dress at Kustom 9. The shirt comes with a color change hud. The poses are from Kirin, also at K9. The Rosie boots are from fri.day. They were an exclusive version for FLF a week ago.

Anyways, Happy Rezday to me. I’ll probably have them until SL is no more.
