Dia De Los Muertos Makeup

Dia de los muertos

Day of the dead is a holiday in Mexico. It is to celebrate passed loved ones. This is not to be confused with All Saints Day. There are festivals and celebrations for the dead. Altars are made to honor deceased loved ones. They are decorated with flowers, momentos, photos, and sugar skulls.

The etching “La Calavera Catrina,” by artist José Guadalupe Posada is the background to the dia de los muertos face painting. The etching shows a lady skeleton in a high society hat depicting the Mexican natives trying to adapt to European fashion. She was later given a body and full Mexican dress by artist Diego Rivera.

You can find plenty of makeup tutorials on the internet to get this look for yourself. Or if you are in Second Life you can just shop Glam Affair at The Epiphany. The Dia de los muertos makeup applier is the reward gift. The applier hud has 6 different makeups to wear.

I am wearing this on the Catwa Bibi head that it was made for. It looked alright on the Catwa Tumble and Kori heads, but the stitching was smeared around the lips. Again, it was made for Bibi and looks perfect on this one, however you can try it on other Catwa heads.
